One night, as I was walking home from the bus stop, It was dark out,—for it was nighttime—and I was exhausted.
Sometimes, when I work and have had a very hard day, my eyes ache and I am not aware of my surroundings as well as I’m used to.
So, I get off the bus and start walking. Now, to get to my apartment from the bus stop, I need to walk down an inclined grassy hill. I start walking down, gaining momentum and thinking about the nice warm bed waiting for me at home.
Suddenly, with full momentum, I bound into something tall and hard. With full force, I bounce right off of it and fall on my behind! I realize I had just hit a fence.
Oh man, that is what happens when a blind person decides to walk and not use a cane. I am quite confident of my directional skills and after the first few times I memorize where to go. But, that night, exhaustion literally beat me down into the ground.
